Project Vatsalya aims to reduce Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) by means of educating and sensitising the entire local population regarding the services related to Ante Natal Care (ANC) and Post Natal Care (PNC). It encompasses raising awareness and facilitating family planning, use of contraceptives for achieving population stabilization, increasing institutional delivery, safe motherhood, early childcare intervention, combating malnutrition, adolescent health care and sanitation awareness. Till date benefiting more than 2,60,000 women and children.
This programme was first implemented in the Tamnar region of Chhattisgarh and Jereldaburu region of Jharkhand with aim to reduce Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) by means of educating the entire local population regarding the services related to Ante Natal Care (ANC) and Post Natal Care (PNC). In addition, this programme encompasses raising awareness and facilitating family planning and the use of contraceptives for achieving population stabilization, increasing institutional delivery, safe motherhood, early childcare intervention, combating malnutrition, adolescent health care and sanitation awareness. The programme commenced in 2010 with 30 village-based women called 'Swasthaya Sanginis' and has now expanded to 61 villages in due collaboration with the government departments like ICDS, Health Department and likeminded NGOs.
The project is now implemented in three States; Tamnar & Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, Jeraldaburu in Jharkhand and Tensa in Odisha covering a total 61 villages. Kishori express is a unique programme which reaches out to villages and schools to address the problems of anemia in adolescent girls and women. Operating in collaboration with ICDS and Health Departments, the Kishori express, is operational in 3 States in customised mobile vans, plying in scheduled locations. The project has so far benefitted more than 1.8 lakhs adolescent girls and women.
Kishori Express is an anemia control programme amongst the adolescent girls, implemented across 537 villages of Banarpal & Angul blocks in Angul district of Odisha, 87 villages of Punhana block of Nuh district of State Haryana (under the GOI's Aspiration District Programme launched by Hon. Prime Minister), 15 villages of Patratu block of Ramgarh district in State Jharkhand. The programme was rolled in April 2011 in Chendipada block and replicated at Banarpal block of Angul in 2012 in Odisha.
3 customized vans are operating in the locations equipped with a giant Screen running quiz on personal hygiene and life skill, digital haemometer, Sanitary napkin, Iron Centric Seed kit and brochures on awareness on anemia, potential hazards of low hemoglobin, prevention measures and the importance on Pink health of adolescent girls to control IMR and MMR. The Programme is running in close collaboration with the respective State Govt. / Dist Administration. The ASHA / Anganwadi workers have been providing IFA tablets to severe anemic girls and helping in medical treatment of girls having secondary causes of low hemoglobin.
As part of the awareness campaign associated with the Kishori express, interactive sessions with young girls on health, diet, nutrition, hygiene awareness and anaemia control are done. Besides hb testing, sensitization programmes through counselling video shows, hygiene awareness and practice and use of sanitary napkins ensured for the young girls.
By promoting the use of sanitary napkins, there is a direct impact on women's reproductive health through safe personal hygiene practices. Low cost sanitary napkins are provided to young girls and women and health quizzes through the giant screen inside the mobile van helps young girls in schools and women in villages to be aware of several health topics.

Sneh aims at eradication of hunger among the children of age group of 3-6 yrs through awareness generation for child care, mothers counseling , nutrition supplementation and periodic health check-up. Access to adequate and nutritious food is ensured to the target children in convergence with ICDS, different organizations. The programme has been benefitting more than 1500 families, 4000 children and 250 senior citizens.
To combat malnutrition JSP Foundation is providing nutrition support to underprivileged and vulnerable children and senior citizens. This initiative is carried out at Angul, Barbil, Raigarh & Tamnar benefitting more than 5000 families. Access to adequate and nutritious food is ensured to the target children in convergence with ICDS, different organizations like Adruta Home, Adivasi Vikas Samiti in Serenda & Rawa Academy.

The rural community healthcare services, also known as Tele-medicine Centres or E-Health Centres(e-hc) cater to the health and medical issues of the local community. The centres provide advance health services to the community and outreach health services from super specialists for the referral patient to reduce mortality and morbidity, patients receive free diagnosis and medicines at the Tele- medicine centres across the 7 locations.Every year the e-hc's serves around 25000 people.
To provide advanced health services to community and outreach health services from super specialists so as to reduce mortality and morbidity, patients need free diagnosis and medicines. At Telemedicine center, patients are provided with specialized medical consultancy by doctors from Fortis OP Jindal Hospital, Raigarh in Chhattisgarh and Hospitals at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Keonjhar in Odisha. The telemedicine centers are functional across all locations, i.e Raigarh, Angul, Barbil, Tensa, Jereldaburu, Patratu and Tamnar providing easy accessibility of vital test facility.

These mobile health care services also refer critical patients to health centres or dispensaries.
The Mobile Medical Vans have been providing doorstep medical services in inaccesible áreas, resulting thereby in reduction of vector borne & water borne diseases. Incidences of hospitalization has been reduced by 47 % in case of seasonal and viral diseases. Every year around 3lakhs villagers are benefitted through this service.
Along with the mortality rate commonly associated with HIV, patients often suffer social stigma in the form of ostracism, rejection, discrimination and avoidance by the very communities that they live in. In order to mitigate the social stigma and to identify and assist HIV positive members of the local community, JSP Foundation often undertakes HIV screening and awareness camps. Till date more than 3.6 lakhs people have been screened voluntarily through the Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTC), operational at business locations based on NACO guidelines.
While qualified and efficient healthcare benefits the local communities within which JSP Foundation operates, as the adage goes – prevention is better than cure. In its mission to improve the physical and mental well-being of the local communities, the Foundation tackles this issue not just on the curative front, but also takes preventive steps to curb the spread of disease and stigma associated with certain diseases. These preventive steps largely fall within two categories, viz. - awareness campaigns and screening.
JSP Foundation has been actively propagating on the ground the practice of 'Know AIDS , No AIDS' and has been putting in all effort to sensitize the community, especially migrant populations, about preventive measures to protect themselves from the risk of infection. Besides, the Foundation counsels the community to go for voluntary testing of HIV & AIDS. To bring about behaviour change, awareness generation activities like interpersonal communication, street plays, skits are conducted.
With an objective to reach out to truck drivers and providing them with primary eye health services, the Project National Truckers Eye Care programme has been initiated from last year at the Transport Nagar - JSP Campus in partnership with Sightsaver India . Project focuses on more inclusive accessible and sustainable eye health strand reducing accidents which are because eye problems to truck driver . 1864 Truckers have received benefits of this project till date.
